KARIBU KENYA …..On Thu, Feb 19, 2015 at 4:44 PM,
Dear sir/madame, Last week a friend of mine told me about a very good initiative at Slumcode, Nairobi. After I conducted research and having a look at your website I really got inspired by your mission. Therefore, I believe in a possible partnership with Slumcode….. these are the first lines on his email to us.
Mr. Ruben Baarda – A global entrepreneur from The Netherlands and Founder of Interesting Internships, an International Program that sends aptly qualified and highly trained interns to support local projects abroad.
They help to serve as 1. Support Teachers 2. Sports activities facilitators 3. Fundraising Assistants 4. Project Development 5. Environmental Conservation Campaigns 6. Business Management 7. Event planners and 8. Office Assistants in partnership with local community program.
The communication with our Founder begun and in February 2017, that plane touched down in Nairobi at 4.30am at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport with Ruben on board for a fact finding, partnership plan and activity mapping of Kenya where we shared the partnership strategy with The Slumcode Group as Interesting Internships Kenya hosting partner.
The 14 days visit involved a home-stay plan with his hosting family Mr & Mrs Albert Nashon together with their children, local tours to community programs, projects, a feel of the city culture, an amazing Mt. Longonot Hike and finally a tour of Nyanza region for the Lake Victoria site seeing and boat riding expedition.
While there, he experiened a village life and learned some dholuo, visited river yala, came face to face with cows, chicken and rabbit projects and ate some chicken, ugali and chapati like a typical African does.
